Psychoanalytic Project

Ok, by now you should have found some person to analyze.  Just to remind you, this person should most likely be:

• Dead
• Incarcerated
• Interesting
• Have some possible mental health issues
• Have books, magazines or journals written about them

If you do not understand what is going on- what is the first thing that you should do?

Next, what will be expected of you?

As you are all Psychotherapists, you will need to come to class everyday with a small notebook devoted to this class.  In this notebook you will practice some reflection and take down observations of the cases provided in class.  It is imperative that you do this in order to earn a good grade on your project.

You will need to construct a therapeutic dialogue with your patient of choice.  This is the person described above.  The 2-3 pg. dialogue should include the following items:

• Direct or Indirect approach
• Rapport
• At least 2 described Defense Mechanisms
• At least 2 described Counter Techniques
• Diagnosis
• Suggested solutions to problem(s)
• A 1 pg. Description of your client (e.g. who are they, what is wrong with them, when did they live, etc.)

Also, you will need to complete an Intake Sheet that is filled out appropriately to the needs of your client.

All of these things must be completed by Monday, January 24, 2000.
